My name is Bill Creitz. Ever since I moved my family to Cambridge, NY, I was in love with the beautifully appointed brick building, built in 1867 for the Cambridge Valley Bank (complete with three safes!). I got to know the owners and half jokingly asked one day, “If you ever wanted to sell the building, call me first.” In 1988, I got that call and made the purchase.
I moved to Cambridge from Long Island, NY in the spring of 1977. I was ready to give up the rat race of city life for more human dimensions that come with a slower pace and the natural beauty of life in a rural community. Like many other expatriates from the NYC area, I too, found this community an interesting and safe place to call home.
This area has attracted many interesting people from all across the country (and world) over the years, as well as being the original home to many more fantastic characters, some of which have ancestors that settled here in the 1700’s. This mix of folks gives the community a rich and varied aesthetic that spans activities from farming and furniture makers to artists, writers and chefs!
I also liked the fact that Cambridge was “centrally located” to three urban areas; being under three and a half hours from New York City, Boston and Montreal, as well as, a short drive to the smaller cities and towns of Bennington and Manchester, VT, Williamstown, MA, Albany and Saratoga Springs, NY.
As you move through the pages on this site, and get to know this wonderful building and the great community that encompasses it; who knows, maybe you will find yourself at the threshold of a grand new adventure! |
